Botvinnik-Flohr II Chess Pieces and Jantar Chess Clock
Two icons of 1950s Soviet tournament chess: a wooden twin-dial mechanical chess clock and weighted Botvinnik-Flohr II “Olympic” chess pieces.
The clock’s “ЧАС 2-З-Д МОСКВА” dials identify the Second Moscow Watch Factory. The collector-known Botvinnik-Flohr II family takes its name from Mikhail Botvinnik and Salo Flohr, joint winners at Moscow 1935. This final 1950s variant appeared at the 1956 Moscow Chess Olympiad and the 1957 USSR Championship.
